Delay (lag) is the time it takes the the headphones to receive the signal from the transmitter.
Let's say your watching a movie, you see the person lips move to say a word, you hear the word after its spoken.

So if your coil detects a target, you want to hear it as soon as its detected. With a delay, you may not hear it until the coil passes over it. That's a long delay.

I don't do lag in any shape or form. Had some given to me last year, I went 30 yards and put them back in van.

thing is they often work different on different machines .
my rapoo's sounded fine on my gc-1023 machine ,no lag . then i tried them on gf2 and they were noticably slow .
then the new set with cheap transmitter /reciever .
worked great on sorex and had crap sound on gf2 , but thats ok since sorex is my main machine and gf2 can go bye ,bye .
again ,lag is more noticable in msf mode ,which has slower recovery . in MM mode the lag is minimal .
of course pinpoint nails item spot on anyway .
we need a rally then we can compare .headphones are well worth money anyway ,but you probably have several good sets of phones .

ok forget what i said about minimal delay . just tested them in garden .at normal search speed the delay is 5" using 6"x10" coil .
when going slowly to analise the delay is 1"-2" .
i lined up six hammy qtrs 1" apart and it nailed all six perfectly at normal sweep speed ,but 5" from where they should be ,so no effect on detection ability ,its purely a delay in delivery of info .
given once detected i analise interesting signals slowly its no biggy. i didnt notice it slowing me down yesterday
at the end of day my tx/rx set up is £18 compared to £79 for deteknix version . that extra £61 paid for the killer 6x10" (14khz)coil .

i,ve tested rx/tx on six qtr hammies one inch apart ,sounded off exactly same as wired phones .
but at normal sweep speed the delay was 5" .
but slowing down to check signals the delay is much smaller ,1"-2".
you could accurately pinpoint in disc mode ,but of course we have perfect pinpointing in pinpoint mode .
its down to you buddy ,if your perfectionistic you will never be happy knowing there are better ones out there
but given theres no loss of quality i can live with the delay and enjoy putting money into coil collection .

you can laugh rew ,but its still the best value machine i have brought . was a joy to use again start of this week and found some small things at decent depths .
i should be looking at selling the musketeer ,but i havent even ventured out with the new 800 (7.25")coil i brought last week yet . bear in mind ,back in 90's musky owners were claiming 14" with this tiny coil it might shock me like the 6x10 did .
    decissions ,decissions .
all three of my other machines i love using ,but all of them have me digging iron .
not to say i dont dig as much with sorex at moment ,its just the sorex can better identify those ferrous in right hands .
gonna keep working same patch two sweeps wide x100 metres to see how much more will pop out ,switching machines ,coil combos.
then after all the analising i will decide on a plan to attack the other 99..9% of the field :Scare3:

might get busy selling some old cameras or vintage fishing tackle ,since i deffo dont use those things .

thats the thing ,if any of these machines found me a item worth more than machines value , not only would i grow to love that machine more ,i would also never sell it afterwards .
which of course is a mistake ,if technology moves on like it has since seventies .
at some point regardless of what machine has found you what it will become old hat .
but at the moment non are old hat ,its just the sorex is a hat that i can get away with wearing for all occasions .
have i got too many hats ?.
can a girl have too many shoes .?

I'm in contact with manufacturer of headset PitonPiton WHD-02. I use this headset for more than 2 years and they are perfect. There are no lags, delays or whatever. They run more than 3 long hunting days with AAA batteries (black eneloops 900 mah). I must say they are pricey and costs about eur 100. Once I figure out the final cost, I will post in this thread.
