I can't help but think a concentric coil would help them in the iron.I am about to park my signums and go back to the XP deus for hunting in the iron.I think I gave them a fair shake and quite frankly they are lacking something for hunting iron infested areas.Help me change my mind, I have a lot invested in the Aka machines, I hate giving up on them but it is what it is. I think deus separation in iron is better than Akas ability, raw depth is another matter, maybe I need to learn to apply what fits best or learn more about signum settings.I've been trying everything under the sun, they can be good at times but quite frankly, everything I've found with the Akas,I think I could see with a XP deus.I think a concentric coil would help or smaller than a 6x 10 coil might be the ticket ?

Don't be afraid to crank up your discrimination and adjust your LT bound.

6x10 coil is the smallest. A concentric coil would cut the foot print of the coil

May be you need 5" or 6" coil for yr super trashy sites?
By the way, are yr sites really super trashy and you cannot use 6"x10" there?
How do you set yr Signum MFD to hunt on trashy sites?

Maybe I need to go back to the MT-99. I wish it was more like the deus in pitch or Teknetics when in delta pitch mode in information given with the sounds instead of just trying to instill some sort of urgency when sounding off.on the conductor type, aluminum can slaw owns this aka mode, like a boss. Maybe I need to cut the RT channel/ change ws signal strength/ duration settings and see what's what with the actual ST channel sounding characteristics. I wish MM rate dictated reactivity speed of this mode.If there is such a thing, it is too fast for its own good or I just haven't grasp its concept of working. I need to test to see if it mixes target tones like smooth mode on CTX.Apparently I am slower than normal when learning Aka settings ?

I think my Makro racer will separate as well or better in iron, than my signums can.

So I was running the signum MFD yesterday, just overwhelmed by the trash in the ground.I ran disc up at +58.I had MM, MM rate of 5, gain at 4, st 11, RT 7.All was quiet except for RT channel pounding out notices of the discriminated targets.a nice change from the constant signaling of trash.I pulled coins including a 1920 and a 1931 penny out of the junk. The constant barrage of signals is hard on the batteries,I may have found a better cheap battery to use.

MY XP deus will kick a signum's butt badly in iron. It is embarrassing for the signum and like Ringy said, the deus will do it with any XP deus coil, you don't need a sniper coil.

    I will test that today.

coins are not deep here, maybe 6-7 " deep but many targets per sweep of the coil.A 6"x 10" coil if you sweep the width of the coil, you would most generally hit 3-4 different targets in the 6" sweep. It is very difficult to lock on right target, the whole spot goes solid bar when trying to use static mode, I pin point by sweeping coil in x motion to find the exact target. It is time consuming but I've nothing better to do.

Is it only me noticed that Bibelot is hunting with Gain on 4 at super trashy site?! Ain't it's it is not "clever" to keeping detector flat at super trashy site and then writing how Deus, Makro are great etc.

Never tried it to be honest. I just get my 9” coil for the trashy spots. I didn’t bought it specially for that situations.. the 9” and 11” where just in the package deal when I bought my deus. Nowadays I just hunt with the 13x11 inch. My 9 only comes on if I hunt in the corn fields where swing space is to tight.

And something tells me Bibelot didn't shifted frequency away from resonance and he did not switched economy mode on...

@Bibelot you are not ready for Signum. Stick to Sorex Pro rather than to Signum
